## Transcript

### Introduction

**0:00** · \[MUSIC PLAYING\] RODY DAVIS: Hi.

**0:05** · I'm Rody for "The Developer Show," and this is your weekly update on the coolest developer news, from Google.

### Datasets at your fingertips in Google Search

**0:11** · First, let's talk about how Google is making it even easier to search public datasets.

**0:16** · While it has been possible to search this data with the Dataset Search, they now appear alongside regular search results.

**0:22** · This comes at a time when the United States enacted a new policy that requires free access to federally-funded research.

### Firebase 2022 Recap

**0:29** · Next, we can head over to Firebase to talk about the just released 2022 recap.

**0:33** · This was a very big year for Firebase, including the option to initialize Firebase in pure Dart using environment variables for Firebase functions, a modular JavaScript SDK, Swift SDK out of beta, auth middleware, official Flutter support, extensions marketplace, and so much more.

**0:51** · To learn more, check it out on the Firebase blog.

### Policy Updates: New Wear OS App Quality Requirements

**0:54** · Heading over to Android, we can talk about some of the new, important policy changes coming for WearOS apps.

**0:59** · These updates include a black background for all apps and tiles, requiring the ongoing activity indicator if used, and displaying the time at the top of the app, while not in dialogs.

**1:09** · To read more about these policies, you can explore them on the Android developer blog.

### New to the web platform in February

**1:14** · Finally, let's talk about some new exciting updates for the web platform.

**1:18** · With the latest stable releases of Firefox 110 and Chrome 110, this means that container queries are now supported in all three engines.

**1:25** · Chrome has also added the CSS initial letters property, setting the sync ID for audio context and the launch of the iFrame credential list experiment.

**1:34** · For more info, you can check out the Web.dev blog.

**1:49** · Then, you scroll down-- go ahead.

**1:51** · CREW: \[INAUDIBLE\] RODY DAVIS: No.

**1:54** · It's OK.

**1:54** · I just-- yeah.

**1:55** · I just keep thinking that's a new sentence.

**1:57** · Yeah.

**1:57** · That would help.
